North Andover, Mass. -- L-com, a provider of wired and wireless connectivity products, announced on Tuesday it has acquired MilesTek, a Denton-based provider of network connectivity products for military and commercial end markets. Terms of the deal between the two privately held firms were not disclosed. MilesTek manufactures and distributes specialized connectivity products for the military avionics, broadcast, and DS3/telecom industries. The company’s customers include prime military contractors, government agencies, network installers, and value added resellers. L-com is owned by Odyssey Investment Partners

o Newton-based Intelligent Business Entertainment Raises $4 Million in VC

Newton, Mass. -- Intelligent Business Entertainment, a Newton-based provider of business management training content, has raised $4 million of venture capital, according to a new securities filing by the company. Founded in 2010 by Adam Sodowick, IBE launched its first product in 2011, which offers interactive games, which are delivered to mobile devices and web browsers, and are designed to reduce legal and compliance risk.

o Cambridge-based DecImmune Therapeutics $1.7 Million in Venture Capital

Cambridge, Mass. -- DecImmune Therapeutics, a Cambridge-based developer of antibodies for treating inflammation, has raised $1.7 million in a round of venture capital, according to a new filing by the company with the Securities and Exchange Commission. DecImmune is developing new peptides and antibodies for acute, tissue damaging inflammation in myocardial infarction, burns, and other conditions involving vascular injury. The company's approach is based on the discovery in the laboratories the company's founders at Harvard Medical School. Investors in the company include Astellas Venture Management, Amgen Ventures and HealthCare Ventures.

o Watertown-based athenahealth to Acquire Mobile Health Software Firm Epocrates

Watertown, Mass.-- athenahealth, a Watertown-based provider of electronic health record and medical practice management software, announced it will acquire Epocrates, a provider of mobile health and point-of-care medical applications, for $293 million in cash. Based in San Mateo, Calif.., Epocrates offers applications for managing practices, clinical content, and patient engagement at the point of care. The company has a network of more than one million healthcare professionals, including 50% of U.S. physicians, according to athenahealth.

o Holliston-based Veristat Receives Investment from Variance Development Partners

Holliston, Mass. – Veristat, a privately held, Holliston-based clinical research organization, announced on Tuesday it has received a growth equity investment from Variance Development Partners. Founded in 1993, Veristat has expertise in supporting clinical trials for pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and medical device companies. The company offers a range of services, from trial design to final study reports.

(Westborough, Mass.) Courion, a provider of risk-driven identity and access management technology, has named Mike Parise as its vice president of global alliances. Parise previously served as senior vice president of sales and marketing for eFashionsSolutions.

(Bedford, Mass.) Anika Therapeutics, a developer of therapeutic products for tissue protection, healing, and repair, has appointed Sylvia Cheung as its chief financial officer. Cheung previously served as the company’s vice president of strategic processes.

(Canton, Mass.) Softrax, a Canton-based provider of billing and revenue management software, has named Tom Zauli as its vice president of sales and marketing. Zauli has management experience in sales with start-up software companies, including SES, HyPerformix, Parasoft, rPath and iTKO.
